Park Flooding Forces Evacuation of Waterline Campsites
Camping, The Frio River June 26th, 2007Campers all along stretches of the Frio River were advised by officials to find shelter on higher ground as a precaution for the threat of excessive rain and flooding.
Early reports indicate that around 75 people had to relocate from their campsites early Tuesday morning, and no one was allowed to access the river from inside the park. Officials anticipate that the river will return to an acceptable level later in the day and that campers would be able to return to their sites at that time.
Already this week weather related events have taken the lives of over 5 victims across the state.

Does anyone know any good websites for flooding pictures of the Frio. I know that frioriver.com has active usgs readings to so the flow of the river but a live webcam or some site that takes pictures would be great.

I don’t know of a current site where you can find a look, but I do have some photos of when the Park flooded a few years back. I’ll be posting those in the next few days; if you find some from this weeks events I’d love to post them.

I know you can see some pictures at www.theleakeystar.com and they seem to stay up to date with all sorts of news and pictures. The Uvalde Leader News also has information, but no pictures. And one more I saw pictures on one time was www.concancabins.com. Let me knwo your sources too and can’t wait to get back to the Frio.
